Manchester Council of Christians and Jews invites you to join us in welcoming Rabbi David Rosen CBE KSG to Manchester Town Hall (Albert Square, M2 5DB) on Tuesday 12 May 2015.
He will speak, in the Town Hall’s Great Hall, on “NOSTRA AETATE:  A Religious Revolution IN OUR TIMES  -  Transforming Christian-Jewish and Interfaith Relations”,  at 2.00 p.m.
The meeting will include a discussion panel with representation from Manchester’s Jewish community alongside the Bishop of Salford, Rt Revd John Arnold, and the Bishop of Manchester, Rt Revd David Walker.
It will finish at 4.00.
Rabbi Rosen is a highly significant and influential international religious leader.  Born in Berkshire, he has led Jewish communities in South Africa and Ireland (where he was Chief Rabbi), before leading the team that succeeded in establishing full diplomatic relations between the Vatican and the State of Israel.  He is now the International Director of Interreligious Affairs of the American Jewish Committee and Director of its Heilbrunn Institute for International Interreligious Understanding.
He is uniquely qualified to speak about the effect of the Catholic Christian statement, Nostra Aetate, and how it has marked a sea-change in the way Christian-Jewish relations, and all inter-faith engagement, has taken place, especially on the international stage.
This event is to mark the 50th anniversary of Nostra Aetate’s publication – and to examine the future.
